We, Jess and Chris, the meisters of Newman Slayer mustard, share a passion for good food and have grown into cooking buddies since we met in 2007. What started with some standard dishes like spaghetti bolognese and chili con carne in the student dorm led to a culinary backpack expedition around the globe in 2010.

A year and a half later we returned to Europe with many impressions of great food that is eaten around the world. Our trip had also left us with the striking impression that not all of our food is clean food (e.g. mass fish and meat production) and that too often we take it for granted to eat food that is not seasonal and not ecologically produced and sold.

We started paying more attention towards the food we buy and eat. And one day the idea for Newman Slayer mustard was born: Mustard is one of the most industrial foods available in the supermarket and we were wondering if there was a simple way to make it on our own. And yes, there was!
